This Thursday, June 5, The Libertines —the iconic British band led by Pete Doherty and Carl Barât— return to the stage in Mexico City with a two-part event: a full-scale concert at the Pepsi Center, followed by an exclusive afterparty at Foro Indie Rocks!.
This concert + afterparty combo is the perfect formula for building true connection between bands and their audiences—and The Libertines are masters of that alchemy. After the show, the celebration continues in a more intimate setting with a DJ set by drummer Gary Powell, offering fans the chance to dive deeper into the Libertines universe: first live, then behind the decks.

The Libertines burst onto the music scene in the early 2000s, leading the UK’s garage rock revival with a sound that fused post-punk intensity with indie freshness. Though their commercial success was modest at first, they eventually hit No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart and reached No. 1 with their albums. Internal tensions ultimately led to the band’s breakup.

By 2010, The Libertines announced their reunion with a headlining appearance at the Reading and Leeds Festivals. That comeback wasn’t just a moment—it was a movement, immortalized in the documentary There Are No Innocent Bystanders, which captures the behind-the-scenes magic and raw chemistry of the band. Since then, The Libertines have continued to prove that their energy on stage remains unstoppable, securing their place as a defining act of modern rock.
Editor’s Note: Carl Barât’s birthday is on June 6, so the night of the 5th promises more than just guitars and nostalgia. Get ready for an epic celebration.
