If you’re in Berlin between June 26 and July 6, here’s an event you cannot miss: “Sound Works”, an exhibition featuring new and exclusively audio-only works by Marina Abramović, Laurie Anderson, and Miranda July. The show will be open daily from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Glogauer Str. 16, 10999 Berlin.
Organized by Le son 7 (sound art gallery), the exhibition brings together three of the most singular voices in contemporary art, united by a shared premise: sound as a form of presence, storytelling, and transformation.
Although they come from different backgrounds, Abramović, Anderson, and July share a deeply performative practice, where spoken voice, personal narrative, and emotional vulnerability are central elements.
Le son 7, founded in 2021, is a one-of-a-kind gallery. From its permanent space in Capestang, in the south of France, to exhibitions in Paris, Buenos Aires, London, Madrid, New York, and now Berlin, the gallery showcases the diversity of contemporary sound art through international shows and activations.
Artists represented by Le son 7 include historical figures like Beatriz Ferreyra and Bernie Krause, as well as contemporary explorers such as François K., KMRU, Nyokabi Kariũki, Matthew Herbert, Fari Bradley, Ann Magnuson, François J Bonnet, Robin Rimbaud (Scanner), and Abdullah Miniawy, among others.
At Le son 7, sound art takes many forms: field recordings, sound collages, spoken word, and artificial intelligence, among others. The works are presented through headphones or speakers and are sold as unique, high-quality WAV-format pieces.
